New simpit builder
« on: September 07, 2024, 09:21:46 PM »
Howdy folks!  I fly airliners for a living and served in the Army in tanks, but never got to ride in a Viper.  So the next best option is to build my own! I'm a couple weeks into my journey and so far things are progressing great.  It's been a lot of fun and I'm picking up all kinds of new skills.  Looking forward to learning from all the awesome knowledge available here.

Using the Invictus plans.  Cutting everything out by hand has been quite a chore but I'm almost done with that part.  Up next is tons of sanding and fitting.

I think I saw your FB post.   :hail: :hail: :hail: to you for tackling this manually.  It was a pain enough getting the CNC guy to understand what is required for the plans....

Welcome aboard! Indeed great work there. Have you been making your own pcb's? That panel board looks like the SNSR PWR one
Way to go!

Welcome aboard!

If you made that PCB yourself I'd like to know how you made it.  It looks like you milled through the solder resist, which takes pretty fine depth control.

I do indeed make the PCBs myself.  I've had a Makera Carvera for a while and it's perfect for this use.  I make a PCB for the lighting layer using SMD LEDs.  I also make the backplane controller using an ESP32 and a CAN Bus network over Ethernet cable.  I'd be happy to make a new post with more details if you're interested.

I'd be keen to hear how your controller works.
