HOTAS Cougar problem in F4AF
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:46:27 PM »
Hey everyone...

I have an issue here.  I blew away my computer, and reinstalled everything.

When I go into F4AF and setup my controls. You know how you have that box with the dot to represent your sticks axis. Well, I center the axis and when I move the cougar around after a few times that dot goes all crazy. I'll leave my stick alone and that dot will start jumping around.  When I actually get into the game and fly, I'll pull some hard turns and stop. Then my F16 will start rolling as if my trim is all out of whack.

I followed the correct procedures to the T, over at cougar world when it came to installing the cougar.  I manually calibrated several times, and that still didn't help.

Before I reformatted my PC, the cougar was working fine.  If anyone ever experienced this before and was able to fix it I would greatly appreciate any insight.

By the way, my cougar isn't that old. Little over a year.

sounds like a bad pot.  I had the same thing happen early in my owning my new cougar setup.  it's notorious for this problem.  Red Dog sells drop in replacements, they are easy to install.

p.s. if you plug and unplug you cougar with the power on on your computer you can blow the pots out. so i've heard.

Even if RD doesn't have it, ordering from Thrustmaster should be fairly painless.  I ordered the antenna pot from them directly.  It took a few weeks, but there was nothing to it.

Good luck
