Happy New Year Guys,

I wanted to let everyone know that I finally finished up the map box over Christmas Break" its been a year in the works"; I think my replica will work well for most people.

I will be offering two versions of the mapbox:

1st option is with a one piece flip top lid that is easier to produce and will cost less than the 2nd option. this will be for the people who just want the look of the Map Box in their pit along with easy access without need to slide to unlock.

2nd option with the sliding two piece lid takes allot more time to produce " Pain in the A$$"; as a result will cost more. This is for the people who want to have everything function exactly like the original part.

Here are side by side pictures with original map box.  What you don't currently see is the decal for the top of the mapbox which I will have pictures of tomorrow.

PM me for pricing.

I hope you are all doing well.

David.

Hello David

You did a great job with the MB. The box looks like a real pain in the neck to build. Good job beating the challenge of building this complicated part Beer Chug

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the kind words Big grin

It has taken a while to get this project finished; originally I thought I would be done in 2-3 months " I guess the rule of multiplying your best estaments my 3-4X applies here. I had some early problems with developing the molds but I think my efforts paid off in the long run; hopefully my rendition of the mapbox will meet the needs for most people who are interested in this part. I wanted to tip my hat to Valcor, String and Nigel for the motivational support over the last year Thumbs up I would also like to shout out a big public Thank You to one Vpit member "who would like to remain anonymous" with out his generosity/extreme patients this project would not have been possible.  Beer Chug

Thanks again guys and let me know if you have any questions. I think I have replied to everyone who has expressed interest.

David.

Hey Guys,

Some have asked if I could offer the map box lids separately for those who have already mocked up a box but want the detail of the real lid.

I will now offer these in a fixed "non sliding" and also the sliding option.

PM me if you have any questions.

David.

Can you send me instructions on how the box is made?
Also, How much is a box?
What material is used to make the box?

Short update Folks,

Although I'd finished my dummy map box a while back, wasn't all that satisfied with the lid.  When Shockwave announced that his map boxes and lids were available, tore off my homemade lid and ordered one of his non-functional lids to replace it.

The new map box lid arrived Friday and between the "honey-do list" and Super Bowl, managed to get it installed over the weekend.  My original map box measurements were slightly off; but, the new lid attached without a wimper.  The piano hinge bottom I used isn't exactly "correct" and it's still missing the hinge pin, but you get the idea.  Because of the location of the map box, not too concerned about the hinge.  The map box lid is a quality piece of work. Thumbs up

Thanks David!
