I think it's time to really start looking at community plans.

Well spoken Mark,

So to make it clear to everyone:

THE PLANS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

Some time ago, someone released those plans.
That person isnt online anymore (might be one day again, but for now he is not).

So dont get your hopes up for getting the plans.

It  is of no use asking for those plans as the author isnt here anymore.

Regards,

Biggles.

Even more reason for community plans. There's lots of talented people who have already released (free) CAD drawings of most parts and lots of talented people. Would be nice if they worked together.

Unfortunately, I dont personally have those skills, or the parts to take the measurements.

Guys-

Remember, these stencils are NOT the property of Viperpits.  We do not control their distribution.  These detailed stencil designs were developed by Jason, and have proven to be very accurate for our pitbuilding.  He has the right to distribute them (or not distribute them) at his discretion.

Until now, he has willingly sold to Viperpit members who send him a PM.  BUT, as with most of our members, he has another "real life---he doesn't sit around waiting for you to order plans from him.  He often runs behind on answering PMs, so you should be patient and understanding until he is able to reply.

Venting your frustrations here on the open forum will NOT speed the process, and these types of comments may offend a developer to the point that they no longer wish to deal with all the impatience of our members.  Remember, these stencils are provided through Jason as a courtesy to our members.  How about a little appreciation for all his hard work that went into these?

Lighten up!

Mark (SANDMAN)

Mark, I never suggested that they were the property of VP. My suggestion was solely up to Jason and if he was willing to let Mike handle the plans for him. I completely understand RL situations. I would think that Jason, not being here to sell the plans, is not making any money at all off of his designs. Maybe it is just me, but if I had the plans and the point was to sell them, I would be happy to have a way to sell the plans and continue on with my RL. Like I said, this is completely up to Jason and Mike, if they are both interested. There are maybe 5 or 10 people in here right now that are interested in the plans so it is not like it would be an all day job to sell them. I am sure the guys would be willing to pay a little extra for Mike to make something off of his time too.
This is merely a suggestion for Mike and Jason to consider..

I agree with you Biggles.

What disappointed people like me who had requested these plans, is that the author had responded in July 2013 by MP, he was always in agreement and in a few weeks we could buy. So we waited ...

In January, he came back and we announced the same song ...

I think we can understand the désapointement people who wait.
As everybody know, when you have a niche to build a pit, it is not clear that in 1 year, the same niche is always available ...

When I stop the UCC, there 5 years. I was clear and did not promise to return a few weeks later. Now I'm back and I took the update of the UCC ... But I was clear.

I think désapointement is right there!
Plans are no longer available and that is all.
Please, stop telling us every month that will be good ... It has been 9 months now ...

excuse me for that tone, but I just wanted désapointement explained.
Viperpits is a great site full of information and allowed me to discover some fantastic people around the world and, if they pass by day in France, I would be happy to offer a drink.

I know a guy that, some years ago, made his own building plans.
For sure they were not as detailed as Jason's ones, as he made them just to build his pit, but they could be a good starting point.
I used them as a base for my left and right console project.

If that can help, I could ask him if he wants to make them available here on VP.

Bluc69,
I am nobody in here so this is just my 2 cents. I don't see a problem with that. Competition is a good thing. Rabbit, and Pegasus, both make similar items and there doesn't seem to be a problem with it.

RE: Developing our own Community Cockpit Plans?

The ADMINS are very aware of the difficulty members are experiencing obtaining Jason's Stencil Plans lately.  Frankly, we haven't heard back from Jason, so we don't really know what the problem may be.  We do not control the sale & distribution of Jason's Stencils (this is a private transaction with Jason that occurs outside the forum).  Jason may re-surface & continue offering his Stencils, but in the meantime we have few alternatives for cockpit plans.

Several Viperpits members have suggested that we (Viperpits members) should develop our own cockpit plans (similar to Brenda's ACES II plans that have been so successful).  Mike and I have been discussing how we might be able to accomplish such a project, without infringing on Jason's original Stencil work.

We could develop a new set of plans, based on old forum postings (with cockpit dimensions), and also from measurements taken from USAF Cockpit Familiarization (FAM) Trainers that many of us own.  It would be a complex task, requiring assistance from members with CAD / drawing skills, as well as contributions from members with FAM trainers to take photos and make accurate measurements... but the resulting plans would be "OURS".  Obviously, any new plans would need to be developed completely independent of Jason's original Stencil work, based exclusively on our own research, measurements, and design work.

Watch the forum this weekend.  Mike will be re-posting some of his earlier posts, along with some ideas we have been discussing.  I'm excited to think that we might have our "OWN" set of cockpit plans sometime soon.  I am moving this discussion to a separate thread for ongoing comments.
