BTW -  Thumbs up  Thumbs up for the tidy wiring harness...too bad all that effort will be "unseen" when it's all put together (like building a custom PC and spending hrs running the HDD cables etc "just so"...)

Dan
I know, I know, but it's either my OCD kicking in or just habit about wiring. I am compelled to do it that way. I also considered using a few lengths of 3" PVC pipe and laying all the cables through it loose. But this way I can track down any problem cables quickly. And I KNOW there will be problems. I am using a combination of DB15 VGA and DB25 cables and I am kind of guessing on the placement and number of lines needed. So I need to be able to add or change quickly without ripping out other wiring.

Wait, Kukki, there's more!! Next I had to put in the Spyder so I could finish the front sidewall.

I neglected to add that mounting this was hours and hours of measuring and drilling. The old trainer spyder was missing, and of course none of the holes lined up. So I had to drill and tap all eight of those screws. I also had to countersink the flush mount screws so you can see what job it was. This is the stuff that if you dont enjoy doing it could be frustrating. I encourage anybody that needs help or advice to ask.

I was lucky to get a bag of 8-32 Torq-Set screws in one of my Ebay purchases. I am using these where I can as they add a lot of realism to the pit. The second screw from the right had a big hole behind it so I had to fake it by using a dab of silicone and gluing the screw in. But I doubt if the mount will fall off in any hi G maneuvers.

I've got a "This Old House" (ca. 1770 colonial) - and needless to say the wiring is "interesting..." - runs go from the basement to the attic & back again - "Spaghetti meets hairball"...

I've come up with a color coding system - that I wrap the outside of the cables (at least upgraded at some point in the past to the "BX" (armor-jacketed) cable from the "insulated post" stuff...) with different colored strips of electrical tape - and then I can do "permutations" (combinations) - by always keeping one particular color "towards the main panel"  - think of reference stripes on resistors - or the cathode stripe on a diode:

So example - if I have 4 colors of tape available:  blue, green, red, white - starting with blue - I can do:

blue - blue
blue - green
blue - red
blue - white
blue - blue - blue
blue - blue - green
blue - blue - red
blue - blue - white
blue - green - blue
blue - green - green
blue - green - red

etc etc etc

Just a thought - but then you could find the other end of any cable without any "tugging & guessing"....or you could simply label the end of the cable  Whistle  (My system works in my dark & dingy basement - where written labelling isn't very practical / or even possible)

Good job, Dan. Especially using existing wiring you have to have some system. I used a P-Touch labeler and put a label on each end. As long as they dont come off, t will work.

Great pics!  downside of the black MLU interior is the darkening of the detail in pics. Sidewall, consoles etc... The cable run work is very impressive, I hope I have the patience to do such a good job and document, label everything.

I feel like it's Christmas this week, I received Mike's EW box to replace the TWA and his AWESOME ATD bezel. The pics do not do it justice, I can say that. I also got the canopy hook latches in resin from Dunk, they are also way cool. But this sure adds to the future workload, a great problem to have. I also got my 5" screen and will set it up and post pics later tonight. I spent Friday and Saturday nights installing my ALT GEAR handle, the EW box and FINALLY finished my MISC panel assembly. This was quite a job as it is normally cast into the GS so alignment is critical. I had to fabricate all my own mounting tabs and drill, align and rivet some nut plates on each tab. I am learning to TIG weld smaller size aluminum and got one of the tabs welded OK. The other one I riveted. Then of course most of the holes didn't line up so that was more hours of grinding and filing.
As I am doing an MLU pit, I had to mount the drag chute switch and guard. Unfortunately, I lose the cool ADV indicator. Does anyone know if goes somewhere else in the pit?

I just had to see how the IP will look with the MFD's mounted so I stuck one in. This "corner" of the pit is getting done bit by bit.
