Welcome. What part of Texas are you from? Building a budget sim depends on your budget, realism and your timeline. Most of us start out building a budget sim and then grow bigger and bigger from there. Check out my thread. I started out building up on panel, then two, then three.
 I built my first wooden cockpit, then a second one, and now I have a Fam. Trainer. Once you get the craving for more a more realistic set up, there is no more budget.
The key thing to a realistic build is to have patients. I have been building since 2010. If that budget is spread out over a period of time, then it doesn't hurt as bad.
