Where did I last read a post?

I've been away for a while due to work and just coming back to this forum and noticed that clicking on a thread does not start me off on the last post I've read; I have to scroll back to do this.

Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere so that the post shown will be the last read post or at least the first newest post?  Thanks!
