After watching the trailer, I saw the new IFF panel that replaces the AUX_COMM panel that so many of us already have.  I can now say that we officially need the new IFF Panel in our pits.

I've been working on the design for the LightPlate and Backplate for the IFF panel to replace the old AUX COMM panel.  Unfortunately, the Digitran switches will no longer be Decimal.  They will be Octal (except one that is Quad).  In other words, they should only go from 0-7 (except the one that goes from 0-3).

If you are using Panels with Digitrans my suggestion is DON'T try to cut the Decimal Digitrans open and make them only go from 0-7 versus 0-9.  It's way too easy to screw those up.  However, if you want to do those mods, please post them here on VP so other see exactly how to do it.  (NOTE: It is very different and much more difficult -- in my opinion -- than converting from 0-9 to 0-1.)

The bottom line is that if you reach the "7" on the Digitrans, just go the other way and don't use the 8 and 9.  (Same for one of the MODE 1 Digitrans that is supposed to go from 0-3.)  Just handle this yourself instead of trying to do this delicate mod.  The alternative in my opinion is to buy a ton of the 0-9 Digitrans practice cutting them open (very hard and easy to destroy), make the modification that converts a 0-9 continuous rotating Digitran to a 0-7 (or a 0-3).  With enough of these Digitrans you might be able to figure out how to do the mod and get some of them converted without destroying them.

Watch for discussions on the Willy's IFF Panel thread that I've already started when I got the rumor we would need this IFF panel to replace the AUX_COMM.

I agree wirh Willy.  Although I have a bunch of spares for that purpose it makes more sense to just control how far forward or backwards you move the channels.   With a little practice it wouldn’t take long before you have the muscle memory to make sure you don’t exceed pass the digits.
