Title: Commercial Thread Cleanup?
Post by: Marvin on January 28, 2017, 12:07:35 AM
Hey Kukki,

Is there anyway we can do a commercial area cleanup?  Many of these posts that provide links are no longer valid.  Some of the threads I have been successful in contacting guys and finding out they  still over their work and some are not.

Might be a good idea to start cleaning up some of these old threads to make it easier for new guys to find resources.

My suggestion: Maybe make an announcement asking those with threads to indicate they still offer their products, and after some time we can just delete threads that are no updated?

Thoughts?
Jody

Well, maybe for sake of reference/history is better not to just delete them and is enough with adding DISCONTINUED in the title or group tjem under a subforum?

That was my first thought too
any old post may still have information. For example, you can see the product; it may give you clues how to make a similar "thing", or it may give you ideas. Even a post only stating "Me too" could be interesting. If you are desperate and really seeking that thing, you could PM the "Me too" guy and ask if he still uses it or might be willing to sell
Probably there are more reasons to think of why deleting is not the best option. Adding in the title "DISCONTINUED" will show up in all posts in the thread, so that should be clear enough  :)

I had thought this way about the Ebay thread. It dates back so far that the links to the products are useless.

Yes, very good idea guys!  It just makes it easier for guys like me that are new or coming back into the hobby and knowing what is still available or not.
