Kim 'AiRdAncE' Dalmeijer
« on: May 11, 2007, 03:50:30 AM »
Okay, so I figured I might as well post my bio.

Name: Kim "AiRdAncE" Dalmeijer (mind the caps !)
Born: yes, on 1974 june 28 in Utrecht, The Netherlands
Age: 33
Height: 1.85m
Weight: hehehhe.... after quitting smoking ? Classified !
Origin: Dutch
Occupation: IT Consultant specialised in Server Based Computing
Status: Married with 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 6 birds and 40 fish.
Hobbies: Too many. Currently pitbuilding - it's probably one of the longlasting hobbies. Furthermore my keyboard (music), my garden and animals and my wife - she's a great hobby :D

Biography:

I was born in the city of Utrecht, in the hospital. Moved from Driebergen where we lived to Lunteren (small farmer's town) at age 3. Then at age 6 my father got a heart attack while we were in Kenya, Afrika for two months. He never got an operation but always was much bothered by his heart. We decided the weather in southern Spain would better suit him so in '88 we moved to Granada, Spain. I was almost 14 at the time.

In Spain I finished high school doing a home study course (for the Dutch: LOI) which was rather special. I came back to the Netherlands on my own (parents still live in Spain) to do my high school exams. Failed the first time, and the second, so by the third time I took a lower level and finished the exam like it was a breeze ;)

Then I started an IT study at higher college. Never liked it and left after the first year. Entered into electronics which I did for the second and third year. The fourth year was supposed to go into analog technology which did not interest me so I left and started to work as a computer salesman in a shop, where I did some part-time technical computer stuff on the side.
I then moved across the street to a photo and video shop (a big shop) and sold video camera's and video-editing PC's. Submitted my resignation after a year and went to a big IT integrator in the Netherlands, CSS. The division I was working for filed for bankrupcy in 2003 (not my fault) and some of us entered into a new initiative called BeeOne. I still work there today as an IT consultant and I love it ! (TIP: www.beeone.nl)

As for personal life: I got married in 2004 and bought a house in that same year. I love my wife to death and we're expecting a baby in august.

I love animals and have a special connection with every animal I meet. People often are surprised by that - I seem to grasp animals and can communicate with them at their level. Even the meanest dog is a lapdog after 2 minutes with me :D
I have (too many) animals at home - 2 cats (used to be 3 but one died on us three years ago from diabetes - we've been shooting insuline up her neck every day for six years), 2 guinea pigs, 6 birds in a big cage outside, and about 40 fish in the pond in my backyard ;) I do charity work at a local animal shelter which I love.

My parents both were psychiatrists (that's why I'm screwed up at times, LOL) and both retired. My father is 80 years old, my mother... well... she wouldn't want me to tell you ;)

I have one brother and 6 sisters. Three of those sisters are younger then me (two are fifteen and one is 22) and I love all of them to death.

That's it in a nutshell. I was planning on keeping it very short and simple but once you're at it you realise you either have to tell it all or nothing at all ;)

Here's some pics:

My guinea pigs (Punky and Cleo):

My cats (Ali, Chica and Jill):

Who can tell me what I shot here ?

That's all, folks !

Airdance,

You know if the world population ended, and you and your family survived, I think you would have a enough to repopulate the world.  The only problem is the Dutch would rule the world!!

Seriously though, great post!!

Nice post AD!!!  I enjoy seeing pictures from other countries.  I always have preconceived ideas about what other countries look like, so it's cool to see them for what they are.

Nice BIO post.
That last pic seems a elevator tower we have at Lisbon. Very good to take a meal with a great view of the southern part of city.
Soon i'll post a bit of my BIO here too, w/ some pics.

As for weight...  I hear ya, I was a slim 165-170 when I smoked, but I looked sickly thin, and then I quit and not I weigh...  well, classified.
