New Member- semi-lost!!
« on: November 19, 2009, 01:01:39 AM »
Hello to all.  My name is Craig but most of my friends call me Cat, I've been flying Falcon since it was Falcon 3.0.  Yeah, i'm an old guy! LOL  I've been searching through the forums the last several nights and have found some very useful information and have also gotten myself confused. ::)  Since this will be my first pit, I have no idea what to use for interfacing or what type of rig I will need to support the pit.  I have been building my own gaming rigs for years so the computer shouldn't be a problem except for the many video cards I may need to use in unison.   I have a short list of what I'm thinking about so far and a few questions as well.  O.K. here we go, please be patient with me gang as this stuff is a bit over my head and overwhelming.

Stone cold locks so far:
xflight.de pit plans (limited space reasons) would love to have Jason's
Viper panels from Mike (beautiful)
LCD screens for RWR,and center console (strings pit)

Confused and Terrified:
PHCC interfacing  (how is it done?, how many boards do I need?, etc.)
Beta Innovations  (still open? would it be easier?)
Air core gauges  (which vehicles to pull from?)

No Clue:
How does throttle pot mount with the new arm?
Where to get throttle arm? how much?
Stick mount?  FCC-2?

I have many more questions but this will do for now I guess.  I don't want to wear out my welcome when I'm just getting here.   I'm an Industrial mechanic by trade so I'm good with all things mechanical and  somewhat o.k. with electrical.   If it's broke I can probably fix it, but if it has wires on it, I may need a hand.  Thanks in advance to all who may reply to this post and your help and insight is greatly appreciated.

WOW!!!!! :yihaw:  Thanks Gaurdian, That's exactly what I was looking for.  Will have to read over it more thoroughly when I'm at work tonight.   I've spent the last four nights at work going through this site, I think my head is going to explode but I can't stop. :brickwall: ;D

Thanks again

Gaurdian,  a bunch of the links are out of date but I still found a wealth of information.  I'm also getting some info from other members, this place is great, I wish I would have found it years ago when I got divorced I would have a pit by now. :grumbl:    Well, back to reading and bookmarking. Thanks again.

LOL at Cat...

Cat message me as to how far you get with that structure, I am trying to decide between it and Jason's but haven't got any replies back from him. So would like to know how its going with your plans.

It's probably going to be a while before I start on the tub and stuff. I'm sourcing toggles right now.  Tracking down the Jet fuel start toggle.  EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!  Have some leads on some cheaper ones though.  :yihaw:
