Thanks guys, your advice has been awesome. I think I will start by getting one of Jason's kits (aluminium versus plywood - any suggestions). And then I will start with the ICP and DED (perhaps look at Flight Systems Ltd - any other suggestions besides RealSimulator). I will also arrange for TM MFDs and some LCD screens for them. Then I should be well and truly on my way.

Also are the panels from http://shop.viperpits.org worthwhile?

Generally considered the best replicas - even have backlighting available (as an extra )

Nevermind, I see it is the same group.

Man, you are totally right with this address too... Dunk is selling stuff like the real thing!

With Mikes panels from his VP store you are about to get a first class panel kit! Bought them as well!

Martin 'Pegasus' can help you with console replicas if you wanna go for metal ones...

...just ready/surf through the forum... and you'll find all necessary infos you need to build up the pit of your dreams!

BTW: welcome to the forum and good luck! Building your own pit is more fun then buying one  ;)

THanks AJ. Appreciate it.

By the way regarding gauges. For now I am looking for a VVI, AoA, Airspeed and Altitude... HSI will come later. Where do I start to look SimWare?

I hope to use the CPD http://www.viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=4295.0 if I can gather the funds back up.
But until that happens, I will use a glass center ped. (use a monitor under fake but very realistic bezels made by Mike Kabar03 Williams)

I love the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the Ferrari F1 of fighter jets.

I love the Viper - a perfect melding of man and machine.

For a great shot of the lcd under a center pedestal look for String's original pit thread, it'll give you a good idea of how it's done.

Thanks. I really like Strings - its small and compact. Very much what I would like to do. The panels look awesome though!

My first pit was also using those plans.  You can find some more info on that version here:

Well guys I have decided that the only way to make a start is to make a start... To get started on the center panel I thought I should purchase the following.

2xZ10 speakers from Logitech
An ICP kit and backlighting kit from Viper Panels
An ICP PCB and swithces from Flight Systems LTD
A Z-10 DED box from Viper Panels
An MFD kit from Thrustmaster
Indexers from Viper Panels
A Plywood kit from Jason
I will need to decide on screens for the MFDs

What do you guys think. Will this get me started? Am I missing something essential?

Regards,

Helio Estrela

Hi DH and Welcome
Maybe you could consider Ghost or Pegasus DED/PFL  both have great solutions.
I bought the Z10 from Portugal and the price was very expensive (considering the shipping cost to Brazil). Maybe you can have the same problem there ...just my 2cts
cheers
Helio
