Second picture is the back seat (you have)
Its taken from the Dash 1

Will do, traded it at Flash in Eindhoven.....near Helliemond.... ;)

Indeed! I have been in that shop several times. I guess I just did not look well enough through all the stuff there.
From my work it is perhaps a 2 km drive, but I never saw F-16 parts. But then, I don't know much, so if I see an F-16 part, I might even not recognize it.  :D  For example, JJ pointed me to a simple metal piece that goes into the pit at the rear end of the left side console. It is a stow away for ... {forgotten}

You must have been around this part of The Netherlands Goofy, otherwise you wouldn't write "Helliemond"  ;D

greetz,

Cool Goofy !
You must be anxiously looking forward to visit your parents (for more than one reason  :harhar: ).

Are you going to ask the airline reservation for the trip back home if you can get a place in the plane without a seat?  Might be cheaper, as you bring along your own seat !  :D

The "dirty laundry luggage" will be big on the trip home ...

Looking forward to some pix,

But hey, I am "half-way". I already have that same cart (trolley?) on 4 wheels.
Now I "only" need to put an ACES II on it, and I can shoot the same picture  :harhar:

Of course, we are looking forward to loads of detailed pictures!

Don't fear the electronics...just fear the electricity... ...

I like your idea of building an aft pit...once upon a time I had a friend that came over and we flew around as a two man crew - I had the stick and rudders, and he had the keyboard and did all of the targeting directive calls - dividing the duties and taking a stab at some sort of crew coordination was a blast!  If I ever should get around to doing something like a Hornet cockpit I'll want to build both crew stations for a D or F model for sure.

Chris, the few pictures i've seen of the repeater, don't really show any sort of a grill on the sides.
The only pic i found was of a static model:

Yes - I also have Martin's AOA, VVI, PFD, RWR, and EHSI, and they are all outstanding pieces of gear.  And I really like DEDCapture - well documented and easy to use.  Martin does great work all around.

It's a bit odd purposely letting yourself get shot up to generate some faults to check on the PFD...but ya gotta do what ya gotta do in these matters!

You HUD repeater looks fantastic, BTW...  !

...I thought all US models (including the C) use FLIR too, just a different pod?  Not having/retaining the option really doesn't make a lot of sense, to me.

And have the guys at BMS figured out how to do a moving map on the MFD yet?  I'd read somewhere there was some sort of complexity to doing that.

Nice!

I've been wondering about internal lighting on both the speed indicator and the altimeter, as the speed/Mach indicator I have doesn't seem to have any electrical connections on it...was thinking they are only illuminated by the flood light under the center glare shield, so it appears I have some more research to do...

I'm not sure exactly where mine is from...if I had to guess, an F-104 or other some such "Century Series" fighter.  It's an ME-4 indicator, and on the back it only has AN fitting ports for Static and Pressure lines, and an Allen keyed adjuster to set the red Max airspeed limit arrow.  That's all - no electrical connector or place for one whatsoever.  There is also a small round plate below the limit adjuster held in by three screws - I suppose that's where an electrical connector could go, but the unit appears to be built this way.

I suppose that once I open it up I could light it myself...or I may just go scrounging for another one.

Here's one for sale...no pic of the back tho, but they do pop up on the German Ebay quite frequently. If you would need help with shipment, lmk.

http://www.classic-jetparts.com/cockpit/instrumente/f-104-machmeter-indicator.html

Hi Goofy,

I have very good experiences with Classic Jetparts in the past (and very recently). They pack instuments very well, and ship within a few days. Are you sure they do not ship to the UK ???
Indeed, that F-104 mach meter is a "regular" (as long as their stocks lasts).
If so, I can act as "middle man". Just send a PM and let them ship to me. Note that you will have to pay shipping from me to you

Sooo nice and original. It's great to watch someone doing something totally different. I love online instruction so it's a pitty for this pit that there is no (and apparently will never be) shared cockpit in Falcon.

So I am curious about how do you use the cockpit. Do you fly normal combat missions on it? isn't quite annoying to fly them with the big HUD screen in front of you? No CCIP bombing runs or dogfighting for you I guess...

Cheers. Keep the great work.

Tulkas, I can fly it exactly like the front cockpit, so dogfighting and bombing, ILS landings etc without any problems. I can peek over the HUD box where the other HUD is displayed on screen, not 100% accurate, but hey, its just a simulator. If ever the FLIR image comes back into BMS I wont need the HUD on screen anymore. Heres the view I have....

Super COOL Goofy, and I can assure you that the FLIR is coming in 4.33

@henkie ,, click on the "home" tab at the top left and then look on the right hand side. Scroll down and the calendar should there. I click on the calendar tab at the top and I get the same thing you do, but I go to the home page for it.

Strange that the "Calendar" link on the same line as "Home" does not work.

 That's you're secret (well not anymore) Phil. Homepage calendar tells it all!
I guess that's why they pay you the big bucks.  :outthewindow:

I am just glad that others now know. If I take some vacation time or I am not in here for a couple of days, then the pressure will be on. If I miss a birthday or two there could be some serious riots in the streets. :fight:
Now others have no excuse not to take up where I leave off....

The only fifty shades of grey I have so far are on my head(shades, not hairs :D) but as soon as I get the pit started, I two will only be looking at three shades.

Your backseat is one of the great builds on this forum IMHO. :hail:

A fully functional pit, true to the original parts - who could ask for more!

Great find @goofy
We struggle finding the "normal" stuff  ... finding stuff for the backseat is probably a magnitude more difficult  ::)

Will look great in your pit!

 :o  WOW !!

This is an example for all of us. I really like this!

Did you draw some sketches with dimensions, or did you just "start making it" ???
You know why I ask that ...  :D

Stunning beautiful ladder (yes, we are )
And pit of course!

Small update on my pit. Both sides now rebuild I am busy getting all the instruments working again. It's flyable already, so next month I am investing in a short throw projector and screen.
Also, my wife was getting annoyed by me using her good chairs to climb in and out of the pit. Decided to get some aluminium and build a proper boarding ladder....worked out quite nicely!!!

That is awesome @goofy. Did you by chance install the flood light housings?
