Starting a pit somewhat..
« on: December 24, 2012, 12:19:11 PM »
Hey All,

AS always some really nice bilds here and a great source of info..
I have a Virtual Pit that consists of using DLP Projectors and 3-45" screens.. and since BMS Came out I been in F4 Triplescreen and 3D goodness.

I also use nVidias 3D Vision for the 3D effect which is really cool..
Now I have a few pics of My "Virtual Pit I will show but let me tell you what I am planning on doing for starters..

Like Always it is a work in Progress and it has been over the last 2 years.. I first started with 1 Projector and quickly migrated to 3.. I also since BMS came out bought a HOTAS Cougar and the Cougar MFD's..

I know plan to add a Working ICP, MFD, RWR, DED. that will be all for know If i can get that accomplished I would be a happy Camper..

Now mostly I am going to be postin links here in the first post for my reference and to keep it all organised so I dont forget anythnig..
I am really budgeted but will try my best to get the above parts a make them a reality..

I was going to get some MFD LCD's some time ago but never got them due to lacvk of money.. Well I plan on trying to squeeze in a part or two here and there and little by little build my fist making of a Real pit..

I did about a year ago buy 2 4.3" and a 5.4" TFT but I tried hooking them up again last night and stupidly plugged in the USB to the Power connector and I think I burned Both of them out.. I tried hooking them up to my Home Theater system and neither worked.. Now my other little LCD I use to acces menus in the DVD/BluRay Player was working but not the little ones.

EDIT: I was wondering where I can get a ICP from would like a USB kit for with software like the Aimsworth one..

So I think they are kuput :(

Well here are some screenshots of my  System and it is also in 3D with nVidias 3D Vision kit..:

Wow That looks great. I too am using three screens but mine are plasma flat panels. A few questions:
Are you using any software to tie them together?
You should be getting a pretty big FPS hit using Nvidia cards, how is it?
Also please show your specs for your system.
Thanks
Nigel

Hi Nigel, thnx as well, I have seen pics of your Setup Very Nice indeed.. ;)

I currently use the Matrox TH2Go unit to tie them together vs. nVidia surround.. I have 3 DLP Projectors that are capable of 3D and the Matrox unit makes nvida 3D Vision think I have a CRT Monitor so I can get 3D working ...

I am planning on getting 3 new nVidia certified 3D monitors but on hold till I can get some pit parts first..

Well with my System I when using 3D get ONLY 38FPS in All my games..that happens because the Refresh rate I use and when you enable 3D it limist your FPS to Half the Refresh rate, another reason I would like to get the 3D Vision certified Projectors..

Without the 3D I get about 40-60 FPS in F4 BMS 4.32. here are some sys specs of my PC:

1. Asus P8 Z68-V Gen 3 motherboard.
2. eVGA 480GTX..
3. G. Skill 8GB Memory 2133mhz
4. Rocketfish 7.1 Soundcard.
5. Bigfoot killer NIC 2100..
6. Intel i5 2500k 2nd gen @ 4.3  ghz..
7. Cooler master Hyper 212+ Heatsink with push/pull fan..
8. Cooler master Haf 932 AMD Edition, even thos I have Intel stuff I liked the case color..
9. 3 Sharp XR10 X-L DLP Projectors..
10. 3 Custom made screens with screen Goo paint.. they are 45" diag each with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio..
11. nVidia 3D Vision 3D kit..
12. Corsaif Force 3 SSD 180gb very fast load times in games and OS..
..

here are some pics of the system:

Great stuff man. I have been itching to see Falcon in 3D. So the Nvidia system uses shutter glasses correct? That would kill me because I have to look down at the pit to do anything. But I bet flying with 3D is way cool. Have you tried TRACKIR? I wonder if that will work.

yes they use Shutter glasses.. I would say if your pit is lit up you still should see the buttons.. I have NP's using my MFD's can see them fine through the glasses??

It is amazing still has some quarks but very immersive..
