Viperpits and BMS Falcon- the next best thing to being there!
The stick looks flimsy and plastic to be honest. Also don't understand the extra scroll button on the throttle and the lever on the panel.Wondering how the panel will be useful with BMS too. DCS compatible, but how to control the leds for BMS...

When i tried VR i had to do this often because the headset had to low resolution and it was really hard to se things in the distance.I believe that scroll button was intended for zoom in and zoom out. I never use that but watching other videos of gamers flying they seem to be scrolling their zoom constantly, so I could see that as a very practical switch placement for that.

What I do really like about this new TM stuff is the HOBO switch. Was that ever done before by another manufacturer?
HOBO switch?
I wonder if the lower part with the HOBO switch fits the old cougar top part...
Zoom is like mouseA necessity to overcome the fact that we're not flying for realReal pilot don't look at a screen and don't interact with a mousewhen I fly for real I don't zoomWhen I fly sims, I do It's not cheating, it's a way to overcome the hardware/software limitations - just like many other things (like augmented reality) What I do really like about this new TM stuff is the HOBO switch. Was that ever done before by another manufacturer?

I have two of these that I can use; this is actually a shot of the one I fly, taken at some point during it's installation -https://navair-pub-sites.s3.amazonaws.com/IBAR_TOFT_017.jpgUp and operating the presentation looks like this, as an example -https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IUTBgL8bawQ/VIMIJLERBBI/AAAAAAAAhVc/P3Z-RiJrBVA/s1600/Link_FA18_Australia_2.jpgOne is configurable as an E/F, the other is a C. They can be flown as single ships, or in combination as a Section. I recently flew the C model after a long stint of flying the Super, and it's like stepping out of a pickup truck and into a Corvette...but I'd still far and away prefer to fight in a Super...Normally there would be a full-surround dome in the front and aft cockpits of the F, but to save some cost we have a three-panel 4K setup in the aft pit - which means that the aft seat has far better visuals OTW than the front, but for a full up Fleet setup the visuals are intentionally attenuated for Training, and it would be this way in both stations. One of the other things of note is that once you get (very) busy minding the jet and your SA, you just plain don't notice the hex pattern in the OTW screens...you just do the job. I call myself "fully immersed" at the point that I start including the mirrors in my visual scan.Which makes the point of the example I described below - even though my "WSO" actually had the best/better visual presentation, he failed to see or tally what I saw with degraded visuals when I turned to attack. It's not just "what" you see, it's also "how" you see...something I've learned to teach to a far greater extent than I might have figured when I began all this, and why I don't/won't use "cheats".

I'd guesstimate something around $5M...and that's not including all of the engineering staff that keeps it updated. The best thing about the visuals is that I can take coords from Google Earth and bomb anything, anywhere...and have actually done that on a couple of occasions. Let's see BMS do that... .
