Nice work there Slappa, and a belated welcome from me too; unfortunately i'm rather a newbie here..
I suppose you had to make some alterations to Brenda's plans while building the ACES?
For example, although i have seen this question on another thread some days ago, i haven't seen an answer: did you stick with the 24mm thickness on the Back Main Center Panel? (Sheet 3 of plans, top piece) If you look closely at the escorting manual with instructions, it is drawn as a rather thinner piece. I myself have used an 8mm sheet i had at hand.
I also noticed the absence of the Diagonal Crossbrace. I'm pretty sure it won't be a problem to the strength of your build, and nevertheless, you're doing a fine job there!
Cheers, and keep us updated with plenty of pics.
-
Thanks! you are very kind  welcome to you too!
Well, yes i have modified a little bit,you have to because there is an error as you noticed.Look at this post where i write what to do for this problem: http://viperpits.org/smf/index.php?topic=7133.msg106393#msg106393
Also,i can say now that the correct thickness is 12mm,and not 24mm for the back main panel as written in the sheet.
You may also know that there are others incongruences in the sheet,i am planning to do a full report about it, so everyone could start to build it without doubts.
For ex.:
The inner panel it is not meant to be 12mm i think, but 6mm and also the outer side cover it is not 6mm but rather 3mm.
There are others minor things not so important to figure out...stay tuned as i am near the end of costruction/testing.
Thanks again to you and Brenda for give me the chanche to actually have a nice seat.
-
Thanks, i appreciate the reply and the extra pics!
-
I forget to answer one question before :stupid:
The Diagonal Crossbrace will be implemented later cause they are not easy to cut...they have difficult compounds angles and i don't have sufficient power tools to do it right.I need them not for the strenght of the build but for a correct skinning method later on
-
Very nice work. I designed my parachute container separate from the seat. It can be dropped into place and fits perfect, but if I ever get a real one it will be easier to modify if the container can be removed.
-
Yes,this is a problem i thought about too, but for now i'm not willing to buy a real parchute but maybe doing a replica like the one by Max "lento" instead.
Thanks for your feedback Sagrzmnky.
bye

Today,i added the headrest bevels and the diagonal crossbrace,it was not so difficult to make them as i thought.
I didn't glued several layers of wood as written in the sheet but cutted one solid piece of 24mm and then with my trusted sander i made the edges to fit the sides. (the headrest top is not yet glued)

Thanks Phillip!
A little update from tonight work:
Attaching the right side panel, ended using planty of glue first, and then six screws (you can see'em,later they will be hided just like the rest of the "rivets"),it can handle all the weight you want. And by the way it start to be really weight to handle now too :harhar:

Slappa,
Great work mate. What are you doing to "hide" the screws?
Best

Awesome stuff there Slappa, and your skinning job was great!

Well,i will do the same thing i did with the rest of the "rivets".Just getting the head of the upholstery nails or normal nails where needed and then glue them on it.

You can see here better, some holes do not have they're rivets.Setting ready for the screws i added later on.

I made my arming lever system now too,is based on what i've seen from Dunk's one.(it is his lever too by the way)
Maybe is the cheapest and symple method but it works! It will stay firm on both positions according to the strenght you will give to the spring.
Looking around the house i find those screws, rod and spring,i know they are not the right ones, but for now all work and can show you how it is.
