Well, I guess this was a good moment for a few pix.
The shelves above the desk are filled with books, documentation and measurement equipment for my hobbies. The desk is also finished, and I can stand on it without any alarming "creeks" or any bending. But I am just 80 kilos. This first "layer" of the RACAL short wave equipment consists of a ISB adapter, 3 HF preselectors, a frequency reference standard, and 2 synthesizers. Each unit is (of course) 19 inch wide. In total 7 units, good for some 340 cm "stuff". On the floor is the 30 kilos HF exciter (produces 100 mW from 1 MHz to 30 MHz), which will be setup at the rear end, because next to the rear end of the desk will be the 19 inch rack with the 500 W HF linear (also RACAL). No flimsy stuff, this HF amplifier is made for 24x7 full rated operation! It has two gigantic blowers in the bottom. On the bottom floor are two 36V 40 Amps *linear* power supplies. Now, if you want to lift something *really* heavy, pick one of those power supplies up and try to walk 100 yards   I am used to heavy computer stuff (say 50 kilos for one disk drive), but I'd rather lift that disk drive than one power supply (even though, due to its size the power supply would be easier to grip)!
On the first picture you can see the full length of the desk, 365 cm.
To be (slightly) on topic, the 3rd picture is my pit "buried" between stuff to make room for setting up my desk.
Wished I had all this behind me  :D
Tinkering with electronics is sure more fun than "schlepping" the heavy stuff (the HF linear is still upstairs  ::)).

Holy shite, that is some serious business that you got there Henkie.
It took me about a quarter of an hour to inspect whats all to see in the pics.
So the bunny and the blanket are already there just in case you want to spend the night
in your cave.
You drink the COOLANT when you need to keep calm in hot situations (smokeys)
and the DIY Antenna was a duster before (same as in Wolfmans home).
Just do me a favour and get rid of the Cathode Ray Tube Monitors.
We are writing year 2018. Let me know how many TFTs you need I search the dumpster for you.

And I guess you have to inform the local power supplier at what times you intend to switch
this bastard on that they can setup the standby service, activate business continuity plan and inform the customers.

@KK , you made me laugh so hard with this!! I truly enjoy your sense of humour and what makes this even funnier is the fact that what you've said is all probably true.   :D
