Checking in from Sweden.
« on: January 24, 2022, 06:00:22 AM »
Hello!

I just pulled the trigger to start building a dedicated cockpit for flight sims.

I discovered flight sims in 2017 when I found a video of DCS Viggen and have slowly been climbing the big hill of learning since then.
I also enjoy space games like Star Citizen. The first hotas I got was an X55 for Elite Dangerous.

My struggle with flight sims is the constant setup time, I need something I can sit down in were the controls always are mounted so last Friday I ordered a SRD-ULTIMATE frame that will be my cockpit. Today I fly on a 34" ultra wide.
I live in an apartment so the intent right now is to fly in VR, but finding room for a 270 degree would be the dream.
I plan on in the not too distant future strap a Simrig sr2 motion controller to the rig so the amount of panels I can build are limited by weight.

Over the years I've made some small button boxes and warning light playing around with arduinos and DCS Bios.
When most people are sleeping I work as a maintenance electrician in a factory in Sweden.

Welcome here. There is more info and knowledge here than you can imagine.

Are you going to built a general cockpit or one specific for a type of jet?

BTW, I love the Viggen (and the splinter camo). We have one here in our local aviation museum. It flew in directly from Sweden. That was its very last flight.

Welcome to VP my Nordic Viking friend, im sure you will find all the inspiration and help inhere you need.

Just keep on working on that dream and it will come true. I did that for almost 20 years now, and have a nice pit with 270 degree screen, so you just hang in there     :vprules:

As @Kukki said, ** time ** is a major resource that you need, but it will be worth it in the end.

Welcome, and enjoy reading here on your night-shifts  ;D

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I plan on building a viper pit, I'll start a build thread when I have my frame built.
Ordered a MPS-1 BLACKBIRD seat for the fram yesterday.
The Viggen is a beautiful plane! I've flown the viggen simulator they have at F21 air museum.

@Snoopy  I really enjoy the "hoppa"  :stupid:  :yihaw: Thats just amazing....

Does that just look like those panels ar riveted into the jet?  :o So they expect a very high quality in all those parts :D :D
