Some more progress on the throttle arm. Here's the quadrant base pieces assembled:

I was searching for thin nuts to fasten the bolt, but couldn't find proper thickness, so i decided to cut a nut in half, and here's the result:

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/salax54/COCKPIT%20AND%20AMIGA/ARM%2022_zpsvivixsvx.jpg

Yeah, i know...
Anyway, here's how the assembly will be placed:

Next job will be drilling the plate for the plastic to be fastened upon it. I know the X35T is not the ideal shape for the F-16 throttle quadrant, but it will have to suffice for now. Most probably i'll be carving a wooden quadrant to the proper shape in the future..  ;)

Minor progress on the Saitek X35T. I only today managed to desolder the cabling from the controller's pcb. Too many identical colors, so i had to tag each and every cable. There will probably be a total rewiring process soon, as these cables are too short for the proper throttle arm. Pcb is left only with the gameport cable now.

@Predator: Thanks! I tend to skip from one object to the other, but it usually has to do with the free time i have available. As such, i might be working on cabling one day, cutting wood the other, etc. etc. Now today, i decided to continue a bit on the mask where i left it.
I first cut the two beads that protrude from the mask body:

Then, the remaining particles needed to be removed carefully to leave a clean surface.

Next i removed the protruding plastic ring that's located at the center of the mask:

http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/salax54/COCKPIT%20AND%20AMIGA/MASK%20I_zpsxlq30yum.jpg
Salaxi54's pit progress

I purchased a 1mm thick 20x20cm rubber sheet to do the necessary covering:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/salax54/COCKPIT%20AND%20AMIGA/MASK%20J_zpsypawgfmr.jpg
Salaxi54's pit progress

This one was purchased through ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262831559891?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=561830210159&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
(not endorsing the seller, but link is just in case someone follows my technique)

Marked the mask surface into sectors, as the rubber cannot cover it all in one piece:
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/salax54/COCKPIT%20AND%20AMIGA/MASK%20K_zpswrejsbsp.jpg
Salaxi54's pit progress

Copied the first sector onto paper pattern:

Transferred the pattern to rubber
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/salax54/COCKPIT%20AND%20AMIGA/MASK%20N_zpssbmmogwf.jpg
Salaxi54's pit progress

And glued the rubber to the mask

Salaxi54's pit progress

That's all i had the time for today. I'm not fooling myself into thinking this will be an exact replica of a certain mask, but just trying to make it look like something familiar. Only time will tell!  ;)

Thanks @NOCS ! Glad you like it. Here's another small step in building the "puzzle" i did today:

There will be some shaping with putty soon, and filling the small gaps between joints with black silicone (at least that's what i have in mind).

Some minor progress on the mask front.. Beige material is epoxy, brown material is wood putty. Lots of sanding, and there's still plenty of work to be done.

There's still plenty of work to be done, like filling the gaps, building the bayonetes, clips, belts etc.
