Thanks guys for all the good feedback, is so nice to come to viperpits to show your work and nobody asks you "you are building WHAT?" :D

stripped the dog for spare parts...  :o guess you are first. But given the superb looking progress on your pit, I think it's more than justified
Keep up the good work, love to see more

Believe me, he was more than happy seeing that hideous thing cut apart :D

--------

Some small progress, talking about stripping wife's property: a lipstick case make a perfect HUD camera, I swear it was empty and I got permission to take it :)

Tulkas' simulator - progress

I want to start to use my ICP-DED right away so I have made support to fix them to the desktop while the CP is being made:

http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w90/Tulkas_5Js/Cockpit/P6120088.jpg

I also made a very nice finding, I was having a hard time with the putty and sandpaper to make the rough plywood surface as smooth as I wanted. Then my wife came back from the car painting workshop where she has bought spray to fix a small scratch on our car, they also gave her the sandpaper they use to fix scratches.

Of course I had to try and it was impressive, turned the plywood surface into metal or plastic, perfect finish!

One never finish sandpapering when building a pit  :rambling:

But it was all worth, three layers of black spray, and other three of transparent matt cover:

Pretty happy with the result. Another finding was that using of a normal hairdryer makes the drying almost instantaneous so you don't have to wait (for ever now in Norway, is very cold and wet in the garage) and you get less shit stuck in the fresh paint.

Cheers

Thanks guys!

I am very happy with this part, looks nicer that I though I could get. I was learning new things as I moved forward and the combination of car sandpaper and spray painting turned really well.

Let's finish this thing and put it to work.

Small details, the screw at the bottom of the fingerguards.

Of course, the lens. Doesn't stand a direct comparation with the real thing, but I don't care, it looks good :) :

Now I have to put some guts inside:

With the DED, where is now that long anoying PCB? :) :

The support is awating:

It looks strange, a little piece of an F16 on my desktop:

Wonderful Tulkas
Now, put two MFDs there below and you've got the best desktop cockpit available. You don't need anything else for a desktop pit. ICP, DED and two MFds with screens.
Ha, you don't build a desktop unit? You go for the full option pit  :harhar:

Very well done, congrats

Have a bandit day
