YES,
it can be done ....
one 555, two capacitors, one resistor and a variable resistor (pot)
probably the pot has to be changed .... Kurt .. can you check the real pot's value ?

Cheers

WOW GENTS !
Today i spent the whole afternoon soldering displays, capacitors, lamps and connectors ...
made 2 boards for Mates that ordered them and then made my OWN board !

It took a while as the REAL PANEL has to be slightly modified .... unfortunately i was so kept by the job
that i didn't  take any pictures ....
but then ... as you know OSRAMS are a little bit greater than the original displays ... and i had to make some
"dremelling" on the back of the panel where the displays go .... there are 4 small rised areas that i had to take away....  about 10 minutes of work !

then i placed the PCB inside and "click - clack" it went into position !

From the BACK - don't look at the wires ... i decided this solution for me ! the other boards will have a 10 pin header !

And THIS is my NEWEST TOY !

of course i still didn't loose the hope to have analogue instruments interfaced with the SIM ....
soon i'll start a Try on a special interfacing board ... and let's hope to be successfull !

The only slight difference from the F-160s one is the Flag on the "MILES" counter .... but can live with it !

Davide, Do the CRS and HDG knobs light up?

I love the F-16 Fighting Falcon, the Ferrari F1 of fighter jets.

I love the Viper - a perfect melding of man and machine.

THIRD PAGE !!!!  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:
Ok i deserve it ! ....  but now updating my thread with a GREAT NEW !!! (at least for me !!!)

After some months i decided to finish the project of interfacing the real TQS .....
i had several troubles in the past months that were leading me to the conclusion that it was
almost impossible ... or TOO HARD for me ....
I were experiencing troubles with the trimming of the Axis (MR and AE) and there was no chance to have a good
signal on the Radar Cursor ...

Then i decided to begin again .....
i found a 34 pin breakout board and cutted the CRAPPY connections i made on a flat 34 pin

What YOU NEED:
Of course a Real F-16 TQS
like this one:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/HOTAS/P1010061.jpg
Strale Project

then you need
Jay's Proto Board
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/HOTAS/P1010065.jpg
Strale Project

a 34 Pin breakout pcb
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/HOTAS/P1010062.jpg
Strale Project

and the Electronic board that you'll have to gut out from your Courgar's Throttle !
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/HOTAS/P1010073.jpg
Strale Project

After many attempts and hours passed with a small screwdriver and a multimeter
i finally was able to obtain the desider value from the AE, MR and RC ..... so i hooked all together
and fired for first HOTAS CCP, then Foxy and last but not least Falcon

I also added a pot for the throttle following Kukki's Idea (Thanks MATE !!!) unfortunately i wasn't able
to install the Hall Sensor due to the angle's limitation (90? max)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/HOTAS/P1010069.jpg
Strale Project

First result was GOOD for MR and AE .... but i was experiencing a strange behaviour with the RC ....
the Y axis was running quite well .... the X axis was giving a 45? movement instead an orizzontal one ...
OH DAMN ..... Bad Transducers ???

just a quick check on the 34 pin breackout board and i realized that i was mixing up the SIGNAL with the VIN
quick change .., recalibration and
WOW !!! running SMOOTH and FINALLY STRAIGHT !!!!!

then i decided to mount the throttle in the trainer .... (DAMN GUYS .... fixing the base to the ribs is really a painfull job !!!! really tight space to move tools ..... and lot of time to make a good job !) I think that without a REAL TRAINER (with the right dimensions and predrilled holes) aligning the throttle with the guide rail should be very time consuming and i very suggest to ask help from some friend when you do it !!!! doing it alone it could be impossible !

but finally here's the result ! (

NOW i can say i'm an HAPPY OWNER of an "INTEGRATED" REAL F-16 TQS

Hi Guys,
some more work on the pit !
today i finished the rewiring of the EPU PANEL
also changed all the 24Vdc lamps with 5Vdc and rewired with two db9 connector
(one for lamps and one for switch)

Want to share with you a couple of picture.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/EPU/P1010074.jpg
Strale Project

when ligthed for the first time i realized the very special EPU RUN indicator ...
really different against every other i saw ....
probably it's due to the fact that this is an NVG panel

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Strale/EPU/P1010080.jpg
Strale Project

Now ... back to the pit and hook the wires to the EFFLUX and GAMMARAY !

Cheers all !

Hey Davide!
Looks fantastic, mate. I have a question. I too am mounting my throttle and it is extremely difficult. Is the throttle gate vertical to the waterline? Or does it lean at an angle? Is it parallel with the side console or the side wall? The front of mine is directly over the ALT GEAR handle and I think it should be farther outboard. I am really fighting this because it has to be just right as you say or it wont work.
Thanks
Nigel
