Hey Davide!
Great job, mate! How hard will it be to make one for the MLU panel? All it needs is the display mount section and the ribbon connector. It will need two rows of displays also.

That's it alright, beautiful, Kukki!! Wow. Davide, you would have three sold right away to me, Lightning and Chris. Probably more.
Hey Kukki!! Can you measure the height of the display matrices? They should be like 5mm and 4.5mm maybe?
Thanks
Nigel

I would be happy with a double row of SLG2016's.

Hi,
reading your posts on the MLU Counter Measure Panel ....
I'm not very familiar with this baby ! making a special PCB for that should not be so difficult even if probably the layout has to be chanced a while.
I mean ... the flat cable connector is something I can't really find out .... i'd rather to replace it with a 20 pins IDC connector
As it was made for the PCB replacement for the CMDS ... i think that the job can be done but:
a) I need to know if all the 8 display has to be interfaced (actually and talking about the only interfacing board i'm using EF) you can drive 4 display each port ...
Are the info available on the SH ? which rows shows info ?
b) I need the complete panel to make the work ! that's due to the fact that the real display is smaller than the SLG2016 ... just a bit ... but that Fuc#ing bit that can make the difference when you put it inside the panel !
c) I need more some info about what's displayed and where.
d) Can you live with TWO connectors ? one for the upper row and one for the lower one ?

Probably it's better to open another thread on this matter ... what do you think ?

Cheers

Davide

Hmmmmm
what about this ??? eh eh eh eh

Don't look at the capacitors as they are a little bit overdimensioned ... still waiting the right one to be delivered .... but i couldn't stay in my skin to have a try on it !

Take a look also at the connectors soldered pins .. to avoid to interfere with the panek i kept the pins just above the pcb so they don't come too much out of it.

Kurt,
is the "BRIGHTNESS" knob controlling the brightness of the PANEL or the Display's VCC ?

Thanks

Hi Kurt,
that will be a problem !
I mean ... usual VCC for OSRAM in
MIN VCC 4.5 Vdc
MAX VCC 5.5 Vdc
USUAL VCC 5.0 Vdc,

I don't think that a difference 0.5 Vdc would result as a noticeable dimming .....
Probably the knob won't be usable.

Cheers

Davide

The display can be dimmed by pulse width modulating the
BL (pin 12) at a frequency sufficiently fast to not interfere with the
internal clock. The dimming signal frequency should be 2.5
KHz or higher. Dimming the display also reduces power consumption.

(quote from the datasheet - it even has a small 555-based circuit for the dimming)
