Wow, this must have been my longest period without posting an update!
Real life, health problems, and then some building in the house kept me from posting.
But now I’m on track again, and the pitbuilding continues.
The right console is almost finished, I am just missing a few gauges, which hopefully one day will get there. I had to completely rebuild the caution panel, since it was going from Beta innovations to PHCC, that meant new high brightness LED’s and new wiring. It’s al done, and works perfect.

Here a shot of the front were all the connectors are for connecting the pit al together. The top row are are all milspec connectors from Rathyon, great stuff!
Then I started working on my old gauges; I replaced the aircores in the FTIT and RPM by steppers. The steppers are giving the gauges such a smooth movement, its great, and no noise at all!
After that I completely rebuild the VVI; got rid of the aircore and installed a stepper, and made a frame to hold the on/off indicator.
Then I converted the real altimeter so it could be driven with a stepper, that was a pretty hard one to do, as were are talking about tenth of milimeters to get the gearing right. I installed a very small ball bearing on the main shaft to get everyting aligned. I also installed an encoder for the presetting. It turned out great!
Danny was in the US for RedFlag, but after the exercise we worked on getting the altimeter and VVI to work.
He did a fantastic job with the PHCC software, and now I’m able to drive all these gauges!! Look at this movie; you can see the eADI, Altimeter and VVI at work.
The altimeter makes no noise at all!!
He didn’t implement the aircores anymore in his new software, but I think he will add it, as the aircores are easier to put in the smaller gauges. So I didn’t convert more gauges, we will drive them again with the aircores

Now I really need to start working on the left console; each panel has to be rewired as I’m going from betainnovations to PHCC. We already tested the daughterboards with Danny’s software, and everything works, so that part is covered.
It’s going to be a busy year: Next month we have a meeting at Leeuwarden AFB for a big reunion from 323sqn on 31 may, where they want us to come with the pit, in april a reunion for 315sqn, the airforce show in june, and a reunion from 313sqn on Volkel AFB after the summer! This is going to be a great year!!!!
